N4906B Serial BERT
The N4906B Serial BERT is a general-purpose bit error ratio tester designed for testing high-speed digital communication components and systems. It is ideal for cost-effective manufacturing and telecom device testing. The N4906B is offered in a 3.6 Gb/s (option 003) and a 12.5 Gb/s (option 012) version. Both consist of a pattern generator and error detector with excellent price/performance ratio. The 12.5 Gb/s error detector can be configured with CDR (option 102) to test clock less interfaces and with true differential inputs (option 101) to test LVDS and other differential interfaces. The 3.6 Gb/s analyzer is equipped with true differential inputs. An enhanced measurement suite (opt. 101) provides powerful signal analysis capabilities such as BERT Scan with total jitter and RJ/DJ separation, Fast Total Jitter, Spectral Decomposition, Eye Contour, error location capture and output level measurements. The compact size of the N4906B saves rack space. LAN, USB and GPIB interfaces allow smooth integration into automated test environments. For bench users the N4906B Serial BERT offers an intuitive user interface with state-of-the-art Windows-XP based color touch-screen.
N5980A 3.125 Gb/s Manufacturing Serial BERT for Electrical and Optical Devices
The Agilent N5980A 3.125 Gb/s Manufacturing Serial BERT (Bit Error Ratio Tester) enables transceiver manufacturing test at one-third the price of the existing N4906B BERT. It also has twice the maximum test throughput with independent electrical and optical (SFP plug-ins) interfaces. N2101B PXIT 10.3125 Gb/s Bit Error Ratio Tester
The N2101B PXIT 10.3125 Gb/s BERT consists of a high accuracy clock source, data pattern generator, and error detector. It will automatically perform bit error ratio analysis to characterize the quality of devices at 10 standard internal rates from 155 Mb/s to 8.5 Gb/s. In conjunction with a synthesizer such as the Agilent N2099A, the N2101B BERT can operate at any rate up to 10.3125 Gb/s. To realize the most complete value of the N2101B it can be combined with the Agilent PXIT family of products such as the N2100B PXIT Digital Communication Analyzer and the N2102B Pattern Generator.
N4960A Serial BERT 32 and 17 Gb/s
The N4960A is an affordable and compact Serial BERT available in 4-17 Gb/s and 5-32 Gb/s configurations. It is the perfect solution to test multiple channels from 25 to 32 Gb/s for 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications and other multi-channel high-data rate devices operating either synchronously or asynchronously. Description The Agilent N4965A multi-channel BERT 12.5 Gb/s is a modular, multi-channel signal integrity test system ideal for characterizing multi-lane serial data channels. By adding remotely mountable heads, each of its 5 channels can be configured as either a generator, or error detector to form a bit error rate tester (BERT). Patterns available include various lengths of hardware generated PRBS, clock patterns, and DC logic 0 and logic 1. All heads can operate with differential or single ended signal connections. Output parameters in the generator heads and input parameters in the error detector heads can be programmed independently, or ganged together for convenience. N4916B De-emphasis Signal Converter with Optional Clock Multiplier
Description Why is signal de-emphasis needed? The de-emphasis technique is used in the transmission of digital electrical signals at gigabit data rates. De-emphasis is a signal pre-distortion to compensate for signal degradations that occur when transmitting electrical signals with gigabit rates over PC board traces, backplanes, or long cables. With the next generation of serial bus standards operating above 5 Gb/s, sophisticated de-emphasis with multi-tap Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering will be needed. Many popular high-speed digital interfaces use de-emphasis, such as PCI Express®, SATA, USB3, QPI, HyperTransport, IEEE 802.3 backplanes (10GBASE-KR, 40GBASE-KR4). What does the N4916B offer? The new N4916B de-emphasis signal converter enables R&D and test engineers to accurately emulate transmitter de-emphasis. The N4916B can emulate transmitter de-emphasis with one pre- and two post-cursors and individually adjustable de-emphasis levels of up to 12.0 dB. With its DC-coupling it tolerates unbalanced pattern streams that often occur in training sequences. The N4916B is designed to be transparent to jitter when stimulated with jitter on data and clock signal, enabling emulation of real-world de-emphasis and jitter conditions that a receiver is expected to tolerate. De-emphasis can also be used to compensate for distortions caused by cables, fixtures or test boards in the test set for more precise device characterization results. N4916B_image The new De-emphasis Signal Converter can be used as front-end for J-BERT N4903B, ParBERT or other gigabit pattern generators. It is controlled via its USB interface from the J-BERT N4903B user interface or from a stand-alone user interface with programming examples. What does the the clock multiplying option of N4916B offer? The clock multiplier option enables error counting and error analysis of devices using half-rate clocking. The full-rate clock is needed to use the error, eye or jitter analysis capabilities of J-BERT N4903B.
